Hi Scott
Thanks for your update. It sounds like the situation regarding surcalose is unclear. I am going to go back to Dr Mercola to read the mysterious articles about Tate & Lyle.

regards

Vini - that is interesting. I bought some whey protein a few months back, not realising it had sucralose in it (I saw the ingredient list and mistook it for sucrose)
Whilst taking this protein, I did develop mild body aches, this appears to be a candida die off symptom for me as it also appears to happen when i take xylitol.
So there could be some truth in sucralose being anti-candida. NOT that I would ever take it purposely, I still believe it's toxic and I sure won't make the mistake of getting it mixed up with sucrose again.

Katie - if you're still reading this, the good news is that Tate & Lyle no longer appear to stop us reading the relevent articles on mercola. I was pretty peed off with this to start with and that they could censor us this way. I even emailed mercola and tate & lyle to ask for further info and state my opinion. mercola's office referred me to tate & lyle and t&l didn't bother getting back to me. Typical.

If you can't get rid of Candida then you are missing the big picture. Candida is naturally occurring in your gut. It can only overgrow if the opportunity or environment allows it. So you must re-create an environment that will not allow it to thrive. You can do this by healing your gut.

Hi Jackie
Thanks for your comments. I've never tried almond milk so I'll keep a look out for it. In answer to your question, I am not sure about goat's cheese. When my candida was bad I was tested by a naturopath using homeopathic vials and kinesiology. This method seems to work well and it showed me which foods to cut out temporarily. Typically you have to cut them out for 8 weeks. I tend to steer clear of any type of cheese because I dont know enough about how the different types are produced. Sorry I cant be of help on this one!
Good luck with your candida cleanse. Have you come across the cook book 'Cooking Without' by Barbara Cousins? Its a great source of tasty meals for candida sufferers to try.

Hey,

A good alternative to soya and cows milk is almond milk. I 've been using for the past couple of months but it's especially come in handy while I've been on the candida cleanse. Make sure to get the sugar free original. This is pure almond milk with no sugar. There is a vanilla one which is delicious but not okay for us candida suffers while we do the cleanse in the beginning.
I hear you should stray away from soya as much as you can on this diet.

I have a question about goat's cheese. I have been preparing candida safe meals for the past week and would like to make an eggplant parm (sans parm). I found a goat's milk mozoarella to use. Is it to early to be introdusing cheese into my candida free diet?

If anyone needs some meal ideas let me know and I can send some your way. I would also love to hear yours.

Hi Lauren

Sorry for the delay in replying but I've been away. When I had candida quite bad the first time I felt tired for ages. I dont know why. It seemed to go on for a long time but it did get better. I found reiki healing and lots of rest helped me. I also got myself tested for vitamin deficiences as the candida can affect the absorption of nutrients from your food. Once I started to take the extra vitamins I noticed my energy levels improved. I hope you feel better soon
